Need to be able to filter out subtypes in the structure tab of a WTPart

In order to be able to create meaningful reports from the Structure tab of a Part structure we need to be able to select what subtypes that shall be visable in the part structure. Today you can only select if you want to see Documents or not.

In the Show/Hide related information, you should be able to, not only select type, but also sub-type. So for CAD Documents and Documents you should be able to e.g. only show Described By documents or e.g. Software parts.

Can you describe the use case please? Are these leaf nodes or intermediate nodes? Why are you filtering? Is it just for a report or other use cases?

PTC should provide a way to implement one ones filters for the product structure explorer.

Currently it's for reports. Certain types of documents shall be enclosed when sent to e.g. a supplier. It will be lika a verification report on what they shall manufacture on.

Currently we have several customizations that creates reports from different states and different views. Having the possibility to filter out e.g on subtypes would make it possible to take all these away.

Are these leaf nodes or intermediate nodes? If they are intermediate nodes when you filter this type out do you expect all the children to be removed or show this type if there are intermediate nodes with this type? Reason I asking is depending up the use case there are options today, but I want to point you in the right direction.

I'm not sure if I understand your question but basically what I want is to get what I see in the structure tab. So what I'm saying is that the Export function is working as I need but I want to be able to have a more granual filter when I use the function Show/hide related Information. Instead of only being able to select if I want to see/hide Documents, I want to be able to either select: All documents(like today), show only Described By documents, show only Referenced By documents. The other option is to let me select what document subtype I want to show/hide. Then I can only select subtypes that are Described by. That makes the solution more flexibla and might fit more of your customers.

Thank you this adds more clarity. Based upon your description I was thinking it was Part subtypes you were trying to filter, not related information. Would you update the idea with this please.

This is something we looked at for the improved show/hide project coming and plan to add it in the future. I need to check, I think there might be a similar idea already related to this.
