Need to control permission based on Part View

Need to control permission based on Part View

In OOTB Windchill, it can only set ACL based on Type, Lifecycle-State and Participant. But in many scenarios, it needs to control permission based on Part View.

E.g., customer allows members of a role to create Part with Design view. But it does not allow those users to create Part with Manufacturing view.

This requirement is quite common for many customers.

Create a profile that restricts those who can create parts at the design view from seeing the manufacturing view.

@BenLoosli I never tried it with the profiles, but sometimes it should also be dependent on the context and this makes it just hard to configure. It would be just much easier, if the base is configured with ACL.

Profiles, Action for roles, ACL,... To debug is already now a hassle

ACLs control access rights to what the user can do.

Profiles control what the user can see.

If they can't see it, they can't change it.

Even if they see it, they may not have rights to change it.

@BenLoosli Good idea, but I am not seeing a way to do this via the edit profile options.  There is only the option to control the Actions and Reusable attributes available to the user.  However, I don't see it possible to restrict the "Insert New View Version" command or the ability to specify a particular part view to hide from a user.
