Numerical indentation column for structured BOM

Numerical indentation column for structured BOM

1. Industry:

Aerospace

2. Windchill Version:

11.1

3.  It would be great if there was the option to add a column to the structured BoM which would list the structure level numerically. At the moment if you are exporting the BoM and want this you need to count the number of spaces in the tree view column.

4. Use case:

Would be useful when comparing BoM structures from other programmes having this column there automatically without having to add it by calculating the number of spaces.

5. Business value:

medium - it would reduce inaccuracies when manipulating data and comparing structures.

Just found that one is able to add a numerical level column (called "Level") if you customise a multi level report albeit it shows up without a column header. With that said, this column is not available to select when changing the structure views of the structure tab of a WTpart.

On a separate note, the indentation tree which shows the icons are always attached to the "number" field on the multi level report no matter where it is positioned in the report, where as this is always attached to the first column of the structure view. This leads to one needing to strip the leading spaces from the number field when exporting it. I feel this indentation tree which is important for navigating through the levels should be separate to the data.
