This is a great idea and I wish it had more votes. Its pretty straight forward to get new Usage Based attributes into the Occurrences table, but definitely need a way to expose them in the standard structure view. I'm assuming there's a way to create a Alias attribute to do that, but haven't quite figured it out yet and hoping PTC technical support can help with that. It works for Reference Designator OOTB, so we should be able to create another one. If anyone has ideas or suggestions, please let us know.
