PREVENT CREO PARAMETRIC FROM "FULL" SYNC PRIOR WORKSPACE REFRESH OR OPENING FILES

PREVENT CREO PARAMETRIC FROM "FULL" SYNC PRIOR WORKSPACE REFRESH OR OPENING FILES

With the implementation of WC10.2 into our Creo Parametric 2 environment, we started having user's complain about a long (6 minutes) delay in seeing the file open UI in Creo or the workspace table refresh after launching Creo Parametric.  What we found out through Technical Support is that the workspace needs to perform a full sync (not a nice soft sync) if the user shut down Creo after checking in and before the Windchill publisher completed publishing.  Reference this link for more information - https://support.ptc.com/appserver/cs/view/solution.jsp?n=CS250355

Creo Parametric Currently has the capability to show the message in the picture below if there are database operations occurring in the background.  This idea is to enable this same functionality of preventing the user from shutting down Creo or provide a warning while the publisher is publishing the user's objects.

On a frustrating side note...we spend years training user's to checkin their work before going home each day.  And now they are getting penalized the next morning for doing a good job!

We are seeing this in Creo 4 now too...The counter also get's thrown off for these additional items (much more than just the publisher). So if you have a large workspace, shut down your Creo session, come back in the morning...more than likely something is going to change...and you will experience a full sync.
