ProjectLink: need to be able to assign activities to role(s)

In projectlink you cannot assign an activity to a team role, like you can do it for worflows.

Some activities are budgeted in terms of hours without a clear pre-defined targeted user: for instance a “Polish” activity of 20 hours assigned to polishers (whoever it is)

Another big issue is that Project Templates can’t be predefined with roles (and only with dummy users who need to be replaced at project startup)

Our project templates are predefined with roles and dummy users in those roles.  Maybe I don't understand your issue here.

This is a great suggestion. Windchill Plan Activities only support the assignment of a single "Owner" and it must be a Windchill User (team member). Opening roles for Activity assignment would be a great way to get a whole group of people assigned to an Activity.

Do you have a specific use case for this and how would you expect to deal with Resource Assignments for the Activity?

Most of customer's complaint is that ProjectLink is not easy to use, especially the plan activities assign.

If this suggestion was taken, ProjectLink will more acceptable.

Role and Group based assignments are being worked on now for Windchill 10.2 M030.
