Reducing number of clicks needed to open a file

When opening a file I have to select the file, then say yes to whether I want to open the file, and then yes or no to whether I want to check it out from Windchill, so three clicks when just one should be enough. It would be good to have the option to open it read only without requiring the excess clicks.

In the file open dialog box, you can double-click on the file name and it will open.

 

Open all files as read-only until the user decides they want it checked-out. This has caused some issues when a user made changes, did not do a check-out and another user opened the file, checked it out and made changes. Now the first user could not do his check-out. This issue of auto-check out on open has been going on for years and will never be solved. Some like it, some do not.

Ben, not sure what "File - Open" Dialog box you are talking about, I can only open a file after going through the pop-ups first.

My mistake, Windchill, not Creo.

 

But after I have opened the info page on a document in Windchill, Depending on file type, it is 1 or 2 clicks to open. I do not get asked if I want to check out the document. A PDF opens with 1 click, a Word document takes 2. Maybe being logged in as WCadmin makes a difference, but I have not tried a normal login.

You're right, if opening a PDF I don't get asked if I want to check out the document. But why do I need to get asked if I want to Open the document, surely that should be the default?
