Most manufacturing companies utilize many suppliers, which can be very expensive to buy SCAR licenses. Aside from this issue, it’s impossible to harmonize supplier info between QMS people and places, manufacturer and vendor parts, Parts Classification, Windchill Supplier Management (SUMA) and QMS records without writing code. Clients also expect an easy way to track trends relative to things like nonconformance’s, complaints, SCAR’s, price and on time delivery for example. They desire this information to be rolled up into a Supplier Scorecard and then use the score to drive Corrective Action. They also expect an easier way for their suppliers to interact with the SCAR, Audit and NC records without giving them direct access to their Windchill system (need a Supplier Portal). Some of this functionality is on the 2018 PTC roadmap but it’s worth noting here too. Consider a role-based app for supplier management and/or supplier quality.
