Save-As function in Windchill should automatically point to correct content objects

In article CS359569, step 2,3,4 and 5 should be eliminated, and Windchill should automatically do this when the object is copied. If you do a Save-As on a bookmap, users should not have to check out every single object in the document hierarchy, make some arbitrary change, and check it back in, just to update the invalid pointer to the original content objects.

Here are some answers.

  1. Describe your environment: What is your industry? What is your role in your organization? Describe your stakeholders.
    • We are a software services company that has encountered this with a customer that is in the auto industry, and it has also been reported for other customers. See https://www.oberontech.com/customers/
    • I am a Senior Software Engineer
  2. What product & version are you currently running?
    • Windchill SIM 12.0.0.3
  3. Describe the problem you are trying to solve. Please include detailed documentation such as screenshots, images, or video.
    • We have customers that are creating translation packages, and they are not getting the correct content due to this issue.
    • InfoEngine is not giving us the correct document content in a document export application we wrote.
    • The problem we are asking PTC to resolve is to update the Windchill code so it points to the correct document. For some reason the Save As feature continues to reference the old document until the document is checked out, updated and checked back in.
    • Please see article above and case we had open C16204432
  4. What is the use case for your organization?
    • We are exporting content from Windchill using InfoEngine’s List-ContentItems webject.
  5. What business value would your suggestion represent for your organization?
    • It would save our customers a lot of time having to check out, modify, and check back in every file in the document hierarchy of DITA maps they created using the "Save As" feature.
