It should be possible to serach also for empty/not set attribute values within Windchill.
Since atleast Windchill 10.1 there seemast to be a property that makes the search for NULL values possible. The disatvantage ist, that you cannot remove permantly NAME and NUMBER from the seach, so that you allways have to enter a value or to remove the manually from the search criteria.
The property is:
<!-- enable attribute search for NULL values -->
<Property name="com.ptc.windchill.search.queryBuilder.enableNullCriteria" overridable="true" targetFile="codebase/wt.properties" value="true"/>
mathias schulze -- In Windchill 11.0 F000, this property was enhanced to include those options from the drop-down menu. Does this fulfill your requirement?
See the property description here: http://support.ptc.com/cs/help/windchill_hc/wc110_hc/WCSysAdminIndexSearchProperties.html
this looks much better than in WT 10.1 - 10.2. where you had to enter "~~COM_PTC_SEARCH_QB_NULL~~" to search for a NULL value.
Although I do not understand, why the default value is not set to "true" I would consider this as Enhancement implemented.
Great - thanks!
