Search needs to allow selection of latest effective version

Search needs to allow selection of latest effective version

Need the ability to perform a search to find the latest, effective version of a document.  Search should allow user to specify effectivity.

Users on the shop floor need to be able to easily access the latest effective document, manufacturing instruction or SOP.  Compliance risk is building or training to incorrect version of a document.

I don't follow. Search already shows the latest that the user has permission to view via the document's life cycle state and policy administration.

Can you set ACL's based on effectivity?  It seems like both objects would be at the same lifecycle state, just one is not currently effective (yet).

Yes, yes, absolutely yes!

Tom Uminn‌ is correct in that Lifecycle State may not change... you could have a Released Document that could be read but not yet Effective that could not be used.  In managing change, Documents may need to be Released and be available and inputs for the creation/modification of related downstream Documents.

Same functionality must also be available for Dynamic Documents

Yes search shows latest but we have Effectivity on our Documents.  I do not always want to search the latest, I want to search for the document that is Effective now or was Effective on a specific date.

There is no way to set ACL's based on Effectivity.  It would be great to be able to limit certain Roles to only see the current Effective version of a Document.  For us, it is a serious compliance issue if someone is training to an incorrect version of a document.

Thanks. Keir's post also helped explain. We don't use that functionality, but you still get a +1 vote. More available granularity in the search function is a good thing.

I voted too; I need to get as Search result the latest EFFECTIVE version of a wt-part and not the latest version related to an attribute but not nowadays effective.
