Show replacement parts (ALT & SUB) and their parent usage links on the "Where used" tab of a WTPart.

Show replacement parts (ALT & SUB) and their parent usage links on the "Where used" tab of a WTPart.

When we analyse the usage of a part in a BOM thanks to the "Where Used" tab, the analysis is not complete as it does not report its alternates (ALT) nor its substitutes (SUB).

The table should show them as well as their parent usage links so the user can study all of the use cases of a part.

Also, another column in this table, indicating from which kind of relation the parent originates from (direct parent, alternate, substitute, etc.), should be added so the user can know directly why they appear in the table.

We agree it would be a nice addition.

As a work around for having the Subs/Alts included in the Where Used tab, you can add a new tab and use CUSTOMIZE > RELATED OBJECTS > ALTERNATES/ALTERNATES FOR/SUBSTITUTES/SUBSTITUTES FOR to add the information in a separate tab. You'd then have to update your processes to include reviewing the new "Subs & Alts" tab in addition to the Where Used tab.  We've done such in lieu of customizing the Where Used tab.

@dnordinThank you for your comment.

Unfortunatly, those tables give you the information for the part you have opened.

When you do the Where Used analysis, you have to open all Where Used parts to verify if they have an Alt/Sub, and then do the same analysis for all Alt/sub you will see (Where Used tab + Alt/Sub tables).
