Status of parts with multi-owner links in preferred part drop down of Compare to Part structure tool

Status of parts with multi-owner links in preferred part drop down of Compare to Part structure tool

Get the status of the parts with multi-owner links in the preferred part drop down select list of the Compare to Part structure tool but unfortunately in OOTB it is not part of windchill PDMLink functionality.

Response/input from PTC:
"However, It'd be a good idea in fact to get the status of the parts with multi-owner links in the preferred part drop down select list of the Compare to Part structure tool but unfortunately in OOTB it is not part of windchill PDMLink functionality.
I'd suggest here to submit a product idea to be implemented in a future release."

Initial question to PTC:
Case #16426808: "In the cad to partstucture compare tool when running Compare to Partstructure tool and selecting the preferred parts from the parts with multiowner link, Are there any ootb way to show the status (inwork, released etc...) of the parts with multiownerlinks in the preferred part dropdown select list ??"

Status changed to: Duplicate

This idea seems to be a duplicate of that one: Status of parts with multi-owner links in preferre... - PTC Community

Hi, this is not the duplicate, it should be under Windchill Ideas. As you see it belongs here under Windchill 😊!!

So please set this back and maybe the other to duplicate.

Stefan

Thanks @spersson for the note and sorry about that.

However, we need more information as specified in the form you saw in the submission process. (questions below). The more details and context you give to document your idea, the better. Think about ways to educate and convince other Community members to support your idea and present your case to the product management team for consideration.

Here are well documented Windchill ideas, as example:

Directly at publication: Add Cascading Attribute Functionality/Support to C... - PTC Community

After clarification brought up: start Save As from Replace - PTC Community

Please let us know within the next two weeks.

1. Describe your environment: What is your industry? What is your role in your organization? Describe your stakeholders.
2. What product & version are you currently running?
3. Describe the problem you are trying to solve. Please include detailed documentation such as screenshots, images or video.
4. What is the use case for your organization?
5. What business value would your suggestion represent for your organization?

Additionally, I invite you to check out this topic where PTC executives explain product managers' approach to customer ideas and input for product roadmaps.

Yes, running 12.0.2 and also follow to the Case #16426808 and take a deeper discussion to your technical service rep if still unclear.PTC ootb Compare CAD Document to Part tool _ question about ability to show state of Preferred Part_s.jpg

Referring to a case is not going to work as they are not accessible to the Community users.

And that's why also added the picture from that case here (but also adding case as reference is good at least for you at PTC internally)

You can add that picture to the top text, if you think that would be more clear to have at top/start text on this idea.

Or could I add/edit the top text etc of my idea and put in that picture? ((otherwise that picture was included in the other/duplicate created idea.))

You can add as many details as new comments of the idea.

I have added comments and I added picture as of 16/8 and then also some questions as of 16/8 without feedback. You could absolutely add those comment/pictures to the top if you think that that will clarify the this (think it will, instead of a long post 🙂 ) Hope that you can undersatnd the need of this function now as the PTC technical service did, and I understand if you think you need to move comment/pictures to the top/initial topic or what you think is needed with layout.... I also asked on 16/8 if I could do some edit otherwise in the top. I also back then tried to create a new one.... Hope all is good now or I will again try to create a new one that I hope you then will not delete or set to duplicate if you could not edit it with comments or let me edit the top instead of this long tread.
