Currently, when loading a license file to Windchill, there's no way to validate what is in the license file before it is applied to the server.
If the license file has an error, users could immediately lose licensing and result in significant interruption until either the previous license file is restored (assuming it was backed up), or PTC provides a corrected file (which would probably take several hours at least).
A simple solution would be to add a step to the license wizard where the uploaded file could be analyzed before applying it. That way, the admin could confirm that counts are as expected before applying the file.
Currently, we are planning to keep a backup of the last license file, and even then, applying an updated license during normal working hours has more risk than it should.
