Supersede, add text on the supersede link to explain why the part was superceded

Supersede, add text on the supersede link to explain why the part was superceded

Extend the current supersede functionality to allow text to be entered on the supersede link. This will allow users to easily figure out why parts have been superseded.

Thank you for publishing your idea. We need more information as specified in the form you saw in the submission process. (questions below). The more details and context you give to document your idea, the better. Think about ways to educate and convince other Community members to support your idea and present your case to the product management team for consideration.

I invite you to check out this topic where 2 PTC executives explain product managers' approach to customer ideas and input for product roadmaps.

Please let us know within the next two weeks.

1. Describe your environment: What is your industry? What is your role in your organization? Describe your stakeholders.

2. What product & version are you currently running?

3. Describe the problem you are trying to solve. Please include detailed documentation such as screenshots, images or video.

4. What is the use case for your organization?

5. What business value would your suggestion represent for your organization?

Automotive industry, Global Windchill progect Manager, for this request, all users want this enhancement.

We are using WT PDM v12.0.1.3 in our production environment

We are using supersede functionality, it is very basic to show the bread crumb trail forwards/backwards.  But when users ask "Why is this part superseded ?" - they have to troll ECR/ECNs, PRs, other documentation and most of the time ask the local Jedi to figure out the root cause reason.

If text was available on the supersede link then when the link was created the user could enter "Supersede per document xyr" or "Supersede info - reference ECN abc" etc. This would be crystal clear for all WT users.

Hi,

When superseding a part through the affected objects table. in a change task activity, it could be great if you could actually see the new/existing part in Resulting objects, in the same way as when you revise a part.

Then you can locate the change from both the supersede part and the the successor and you can see both parts in the change summary.

Just an additional idea
