Support parallel installation of 2 different Windchill Workgroup Manager (WGM) versions

Support parallel installation of 2 different Windchill Workgroup Manager (WGM) versions

At this moment only 1 active version of Windchill Workgroup Manager (WGM) is possible at the same time, which limits users to work with just one Windchill version at the time. This approach generates problems, e.g. during updates of Windchill or migration of data.

Allowing 2 or more installations to coexist, mostly through grater encapsulation of installation (including Windchill File System, WFS, as component of WGM installation and separation of registry keys based on the WGM version) would resolve those issues and allow to work with WGM on the similar basis as Creo - Windchill Interaction.

For testing purposes, and for Windchill upgrade scenarios it is a must to enable multiple working WorkGroupManager versions to co-exist on a computer.

However I would like to add that also multiple CREO versions (conflicting CREO Platform Agent) should be made possible, as well CREO - WGM combinations (in my company we have NX community using WGM to connect to Windchill,  and team using CREO connecting to the same Windchill; sometime people work on multiple projects ..)

Hi,

when reading through the original idea I was wondering whether the idea is about having multiple versions of Windchill Workgroup Manager installed or running multiple versions of installed Windchill Workgroup Managers at once?

I would be interested to get clarification here.

Already today it is possible to have multiple versions of Windchill Workgroup Manager installed on the same machine, although this kind of setup is not official supported.

Regards,

Ruediger
