1. We need configurable table Displays for all Tables.

e.g. "Checkout on the Fly " in Creo Parametric does not have a configurable table display.


2. We need selectable conjunctions "OR" and "AND" for filters

What if I want to show Folders and CAD Drawings only? Currently the filter on Drawings would filter out the Folders as well as they are no drawings ...


3. We need to be able to "Hide" unused system Table Displays

In a CAD centric setup all the predefined displays forWTParts etc are worthless for the users - why can't we simply remove them?


4. We need to predefine the column width within a table Display to avoid unnecessary large tables and to reduce resizing effort for the users

5. We need the possibility to exchange views between users

A Group Key user should be able to define a table display and to share it within his group. It doesn't make sense that each user has to define the Display again.

What about defining table displays on context level?

The users would love it to see what they want to see. We would achieve this by adding configurable table displays to all tables. With having conjunctions for filters in Table displays we would be able to display e.g. .only Drawings AND Folders (at the moment the filter "only drawing" would wipe out all folders and the second filter for "only Folders" would wipe out all drawings - so you see nothing).
In many companies only a portion of Windchill is in use - so having all possible necessary system Table displays in the list is confusing the users - with having the option to hide them we would have a much easier to handle UI.
The Predefined Colum width is essential to display as much information as possible on the screen without the need to scroll and page - This is a simple reduction of clicks and picks for the user - Engineers love to see all on one page to compare it and to get an overview.

I just wanted to let you know that there are some out of the box capabilities for some of these requests:

The "Match All" check box on the Filters tab will switch all your criteria to be either AND'ed (when checked) or OR'ed (when unchecked).

You can make a table view that will show only Drawings and Folders.    In my example, I am showing ONLY folders and Assemblies, but the same concept can be applied for Drawings:

1. Create a Table Display for the folders page

  • Note there are controls for sharing the table view with All users, Users in an organization, Show only for this Product.

2. On "Choose Object Types" Step, choose CAD Document and Folder

3. On "Set Filters" Step, choose:

  • UNCHECK the checkbox for "Match All" (this will make it all conditions OR'ed)
  • Add Criterias:
    • Criteria 1:
      • Object Types: CAD Document,
      • Criteria: Document Category
      • Operation "Equal to"
      • Value: "Drawing" (in my case it is Assembly)
    • Criteria 2:
      • Object Types: CAD Document,
      • Criteria: Document Category
      • Operation "is not set"

4. Save the filter

As a site admin you should be able to do this.  Edit the Table View and uncheck Show in current view list or Share with

As site admin, you can resize the columns and then hit the floppy disk icon, "Save View" and the column sizes will be remembered.

What about defining table displays on context level?

In Windchill 11.2, we have added the capability for the Product Manager to make and share a view specific to this context.
