save as of a variant is causing the copy to be standard part and not variant. (we expected the copy to be also variant)

Other issue: If copy is standard part, Then OIR depending upon information (attribute) related to variant or standard part, should get that information as standard part and not variant.

The use of a "variant" type is just an example of using the generation process and has no impact on its functionality as a part structure.  Further - the Save-As would not relate the new "saved-as" Part back to the configurable structure or variant specification.  We only support that relationship path through the configure process.
