Usability - Import to Workspace Enhancements

Usability - Import to Workspace Enhancements

In the Creo embedded browser we have a great functionality to import Creo data into the Workspace. It enables users to decide upfront what to do and how to handle data they received from e.g. an external partner.

Unfortunately the user interface is not intuitive at all.

- to open files from the disk you have to select "+" - I think all other applications on the market use an "open" button or simmilar.

- Users struggle with what "Reuse" means in the context of Import. Does it mean that what is in Commonspace wll be reused? The data the user is importing?

- Why do we need to wipe out all data which is in the Creo Session? This is not necessary if you use File open and save to Workspace.

More guidance for the user would be much appreciated.

i suggest to export the whole workspace to the partner and tell him to work in there, will be less pain and lost time to rematch all the data.

to import data is common procedure if the assemply already exist load old version in work space, lock bolts/nout and common lib components, then directly open local assembly than save, after look in ws to see what is modified.

the reuse means stuff in commonspasce will be reused yes

by the other side is not a best practice to open external files directly because the import can save a lot of time to compare (reuse becase is present in commonspace)

the user interface is not friendy but is not for common users, is for superuser/product manager in my opinion, the green plus simbol is a unified add procedure for wc, can fin also on package/baseline etc.

overall you point of view is correct shall be improved maybe removing the wipeout of ram when importing that is very dangerous.
