WGM support for Modeling .sd format

PTC has decided that the WGM for Modeling does not support the .sd format. This decision has a huge impact on the transition of Model Manager customers to Windchill, unfortunately in a bad way.
If the WGM supported the .sd format, special Modeling features would work again on the top-level assemblies. Likewise, the product view data would gain accuracy.
But what would be the most important consequence:
The duration of data migration from Model Manager to Windchill would be reduced from days to a few hours, and for large amounts of data from weeks to 1 - 2 days. This would enable many customers to move to Windchill.

We (TECHSOFT) are a long-standing partner of PTC in the field of CAD, CAM, PLM and IOT. We support over 2000 customers in the manufacturing industry (mechanical engineering, plant engineering, tool making, mold making, engine building...) in Austria and all over Europe with PTC solutions.
I myself am responsible for the areas of PLM and software development in TECHSOFT.

Our customers run various versions of Windchill, Creo Parametric and Creo Elements/Direct Modeling.

The use case for our customers who are still working with Modeling and Model Manager today is to enable them to migrate to Windchill, Modeling and Creo Parametric.

The migration from Model Manager to Windchill is only a fraction of the previous effort. For many customers, this is what makes the switch possible in the first place.
for TECHSOFT:
We can migrate many more customers to Windchill in the same timeframe.
for PTC:
Low development effort for the WGM saves development effort and maintenance in the migration software (MME).
Also for PTC Consultants extreme relief in migration projects with PTC Direct customers.
