At Boston Scientific, we have a need to enforce that SAP master attributes on a part are in synch between Design and Plant views.
There are particular attributes that SAP considers to be master and will apply the same value across all plants (aka views) for that part. This means that when a single plant view changes these attributes when it feeds to SAP the values will be updated to all parts in SAP but we have no assurance in Windchill that all of the plant views reflect the updated information. This means that we can have values in windchill which is considered the master of the data that doesn’t match values in SAP which is what we build product from. Because of this, current PDM system has a significant customization to auto apply these ‘master’ values across all of the part views when a change is made to any one view. We don’t need this level of customization but we do need a business rule that checks that the ‘master’ values are the same across all of the part views.
