The Clipboard in Windchill provides a useful function to collect objects first and then paste them into a certain container. As a standard behavior, this function pastes only the latest copied objects to the target context. In the “Structure” tab, there exists the possibility to paste a selection of objects from the clipboard (selection list). This is not limited to the last copy event.
This functionality would add a great value to other contexts like baselines or folders. Having this possibility available, it would be possible to collect objects first and then pasting this selection e.g. in a baseline, instead of searching each object first or having multiple copy-paste events.
Example “Adding Objects to a Baseline”
Today: Each object has to be searched in the “add” dialog or the objects have to be copied first and then pasted into the baseline. As a result, multiple navigation or search events have to be performed.
Tomorrow: The user can collect (copy) objects from different containers or folders first and then navigate to the target baseline to paste his selection. As a result, only one paste event will be performed, the objects to be pasted can be checked in the clipboard before pasting them.
