In some cases in might be helpful to have the option to import choice lists from Microsoft Word, Excel or txt-files, rather than typing them record by record in the List Library.
this is available. i believe it was added in 2006, but know for sure that it has been in the software for a number of years, so any version you are likely using supports this.
From the help"You can directly modify the records in the List Library file. You can also cut, copy, paste, and delete these records. For more information, see Table How-Tos. Additionally, you can use the Import Wizard to import data from a source file into an open List Library file. However, the source file must contain values for List Definition Code, Code, and Display Text. During the import of records into a List Library file, you can only add records. Updates of existing List Library records are not possible."
Oh, i found this. Didn't think of the Import Wizard having different functions regarding the opened file type.
Edit: This Idea may be closed or set to "current functionality", but i should be considered to have a notice in the help, that there are different import functionalities regarding which window is selected
