Windchill Where Used for Multiple Objects or Entire Family Table

Windchill Where Used for Multiple Objects or Entire Family Table

Please add the ability to do a Where Used/Related Objects search for multiple Windchill objects or on an entire Family Table. Currently you have to go one by one which takes a very long time.

Searching the where used for all members of some family tables could take a long time. I have several family tables with over 750 instances in each.

What business objective are you trying to solve by listing all assemblies that use certain family table instances?

Would a report query do a better job for this sort of listing?

We use Family Tables for a significant portion of our products (not just hardware). Today, people do not perform a where used search on all the instances because it takes a lot of manual time. Thus, the related assemblies/drawings don't get updated and we're left with out of date or broken assemblies/drawings.

I'd be 'ok' with a Report Query but I'm not that familiar with it. I have yet to find a good resource on how to learn to build Report Queries. Do you know of a good resource or any pointers with getting this specific query setup? I haven't found the out of the box reports to be that useful.

In this document you can find some hints about reporting.

In it you can find also lots of report ready to use.

At the end of the document there are a couple of PowerPoint from PTC.

One is very old but it's still useful to understand basic rules.
