I have Internet Explorer 9 and a 3 button mouse.  If I hover over any hyperlink in WC10.1 and use the middle mouse button, the page opens in a new tab.  There are settings in IE that can be toggled to open the page in a new tab or a new window.  Does this method provide a solution?

For most of the hyperlinks if you select CTRL and then Right-Mouse-Click you will access to launch into a new Tab or new Window, etc.

Middle mouse button with Ctrl will open in another window in IE.

It may depend on your browser settings, but you don't even need the control with the middle mouse button.  Just middle click and it opens in a new tab.
