create product template with documents

When saving a product as a template, it is not possible to include documents.

This functionality is available when creating project templates from existing projects.

There are standard documents that must be in place when creating new products in pdmlink.

Users that are familiar with integral installations (prjlink + pdmlink) are aware of the project templates functionality and are seeking the same for products.

Can't this functionality be the same throughout windchill solutions?

Yes, I agree. There should be no difference when saving a container template other than the unique items. All common items should be universally available in all container templates.

I am facing this problem too. I need to add a standard set of documents to each Product but I can't. As a workaround, I'm thinking of either one of these inconvenient ways:

• adding Document Templates (which get exported as part of template) and creating new documents using them every time for each new Product
• keeping Documents in my Project Template, sending them to PDM, and then removing the share
