Recently, I have had a user lose a few days worth of work due to hitting the "Revert to Windchill Copy" button on accident while trying to perform a search. Now, I would agree that the user should not go multiple days without checking in a file, that is just not smart. But, moving past that; Why is there a button to delete a users progress, sitting just millimeters away from the most commonly used button (Search), while using DTI in an office application?
It is a VERY unfortunate thing that PTC has decided to place a "Revert to windchill" button right next to the search button in Windchill Office DTI. And not only that, but one that does not have a pop-up dialog to ensure that is really what you want to do. If PTC has not already fixed this in later versions, it needs to be addressed. It is a very poor design decision to place a button that deletes all of a user’s saved data on their file, right next to a commonly clicked search button. And it is even more unforgiving that it does not have an "Are you sure" dialog.
PTC tech support has told me that there is nothing for them to do and I need to create a product idea/enhancement, so here I go. But truly this isn’t an enhancement idea. This is just plain and simple a development mistake on PTC’s part. You can't even download a file without getting a pop-up asking are you sure, and yet the "delete my saved data" button has no dialog? Just sheer silliness.
Anyway, please either move this button, add a dialog asking you to confirm, or better yet- do both.
Thanks,
Colten
