tooltip display for attributes

Before Windchill 10.0, the attribute description appeared when holding mouse over a question-mark icon. This feature was very useful for non-frequent users. When implementing change management, many non frequent users are accessing Windchill. They need a better explanation of what to fill in. The help text shall be configured at the attribute and possible to turn on/off by preference (and profiles).

one of our customers pointed out that the description, that is should aways be used as tooltip when filling in a attribute on any type. so it must be avaliable in any place in windchill (PDMLink, Classification, Change Mgngt, ...).

Note that it also should work when a checkbox or dropdownlist, or any other constraint is placed on the attribute

Particularly with attributes this would be extremely useful, as it is likely to increase the content quality. Ideally this feature can be activated from the preferences, so that more experienced users can turn it off if they want.

explanation of attribute values is very important to increase quality and it helps to keep the UI clean since the clutter of explanations are not included in the values. Currently we use enumerations as a workaround which stores the KEY but displays the value in multiple languages.

e.g.

- | No welding involved

CP1 | Welding quality class CP A to D according EN15085-3

CP2 | Welding quality class CP C2 to D according EN15085-3

CP3 | .....

I would suggest this could be expanded, beyond just attributes.

I also like the suggestion above to include a preference to enable/disable tooltips.

The tooltip of an Attribute is a key feature for Medical companies where there are enormous number of attributes to be filled by the end user and user having the ability to read the description/tips while filling the attribute MAKES LOT OF DIFFERENCE. Just like any "ask me" robot you have for any sales website you visit now a days.

The Quality Module has many fields and not all of them are intuitive for users to understand how and what to choose.  Having tooltips would help reinforce training that users may have forgotten due to infrequent use.

Come on PTC, this should be an OOTB function and would be of tremendous value to our user community, especially when adding new attributes that the user is not aware of.  Please consider this and make it happen.  Thank you.
