Filling a SI Project field via drag & drop of checkpoint/snapshot

Currently, in order to fill a SI Project field, it takes quite some time to navigate to the correct subfolder and select the relevant checkpoint/snapshot.

It would be beneficial if it could also be done via drag & drop from the Project History View.

Have you thought about using Source Trace/Link fields instead?

Those support the Drap&Drop gesture perfectly?

Thanks for the submitted idea. I agree that drag and drop ability would provide better usability.

Please note that SI Project fields apply to project/subproject/checkpoints, and Source Trace/Link fields apply to member revisions.

Some consistency would be great: SI Projects allow browse but not drag and drop, and Source Traces allow drag and drop but not browse. We'd like both types of fields to support both types of gestures.

as far as I've checked it, at least Source Link fields can perfectly apply to project/subproject and checkpoints.

I would even prefer a SOURCE LINK instead of a SI PROJECT field

The only problem is that the fields cannot be followed in WEB UI.

Thank you for pointing this out to me, I had overlooked that.

Unfortunately, I still cannot use a Source Link field instead of an SI Project for my use cases because:

1) I want the user to be able to browse to a project or checkpoint, not use drag-and drop. (I know, this is the opposite of this idea)

2.a) An SI Project field behaves like a hyperlink, which is great, especially in the web interface.

2.b) As you pointed out, a Source Link field does not work in the web interface.

There are so many features of Integrity that achieve 80% of what we need, but the 20% missing rarely overlap so it's hard to find usable solutions.

But that was a digression, my point is I support this idea: drag-and-drop and browse-to in a consistent way.

In Addition to this very good idea i would like to have a possibility to prefill SI Project Fields, so that the user, if he has to use such a field, can start at a certain point or subproject of the structure and not from the highest level of Toplevel Projects.
