If an item has duplicate detection enabled, it looks as if you get an alert as soon as you create an item:
In this example, all the fields are null so there are obviously no duplicates.
When the search actually runs, it adds "found" or "not found".
This is confusing for two reasons:
1) The icon is a yellow exclamation point. Most users see that as an alert that requires attention.
2) The wording "Potential duplicates" is interpreted by most users as meaning "Potential duplicates exist", especially because it's highlighted as an active link.
The icon and text should be hidden until the search runs and returns results (whether positive or negative). If not hidden, the icon should be neutral and the link disabled or greyed out.
