Integrity Modeler interface to Enterprise Architect

Integrity Modeler interface to Enterprise Architect

The proposal is to create a performant interface to Enterprise Architect (EA). It shall provide high quality import / export options to Integrity Modeler (IM) for model elements AND diagrams. In a further approach also synchronization shall be possible.

Such an interface would be needed i. e. for development projects in which the development partner uses EA, but the own company needs to have the results in PTC IM for further detailing (not only documentation).

Possible scenarios for the exchange with suppliers and development partners:

  1. single transfer of EA – Models to IM
  2. ongoing modification / synchronization from EA to IM

The actual universal interface XMI is far not sufficient because no elements can be imported and no diagrams can be transferred. Sync. is also not possible.

Hello Arne,

Thanks for submitting the idea. This is something we've discussed in Product Mgmt, but our current roadmap does not include a direct integration with EA.

We're planning to provide OSLC capabilities for our next release of Modeler (subject to change) which would potentially provide a way to integrate with EA, but it may not fit the full model import/export and re-synch use cases that well.

Regards,

Patrick

Update: we have this requirement in our database with the ID ART11-7118489

Hi Patrick,

I  would also be interested in an integration between Enterprise Architect and PTC Modeler.

Has the integration with OSLC been released? Are there any other possibilities to connect / exchange data?

I would be very happy about your help.

Thanks,

David

hi David,

Unfortunately the situation remains the same as before, that we don't currently have any plans to deliver an integration with EA. Windchill Modeler has an OSLC service that exposes model data (OSLC Requirement and Architecture domains), and this can be used (maybe also in combination with our REST service) to build custom integrations with other tools.

Other more basic possibilities are HTML Links in Windchill Modeler pointing to a web resource in EA (if it provides this). Modeler's Windchill Exporter can be used to export block/logical structure and variability models to an XML format. There is also Modeler's XMI function which has some limitations but may support the use cases you need.

Are you able to provide more detail on what specific use cases you would like to see implemented?

thanks,

Patrick

Hi Patrick,

thanks for your fast reply.

In the PTC Community I read about the "Integrity Integration Platform". But as far as I understand, this application is no longer offered, right?

I'll take a look at your suggestions and get back to you after refining the use cases.

Thanks again,

David
