Interface Control Document ICD

1. Describe your environment: What is your industry? What is your role in your organization? Describe your stakeholders.
Space industry, creating new equipment for space exploration

2. What product and version are you currently running?
Windchill Modeler 9.3

3. Describe the problem you are trying to solve. Please include detailed documentation such as screenshots, images or video.
Seeking to query the model database for a summary of all ports and interfaces.

See the following for exactly what is requested, both the 'black box' version and 'white box' version:

https://docs.nomagic.com/display/SYSMLP190/Creating+Interface+Control+Document+tables

A good tutorials on how to query the Modeler database in general is also requested for the HSUV example in SysML.  The number of property names that comes up when creating a custom table through the utility profile is confusing.  The help pages are confusing regarding 'tagged values' and 'tagged definitions' - the info is technically correct but very unhelpful as it is completely general.

4. What is the use case for your organization?
To cross check all inputs and outputs to and from a block are accounted for.  ICDs are very common for Systems Engineering work.  Do not have it as a section in the "Publisher' feature.  It is better to have it as a table in the model similar to how it is done for allocations.

What business value would your suggestion represent for your organization?
Effective cross checking for preventing errors, and communication with various engineering specialties.

Hello,

Thanks for the product idea. It may be possible to do something similar matrices/tables. I also think it could be achieved with scripting using the Automation Interface.

We would prefer having a simple, easy way to generate this type of information report so will consider for future releases.

regards,

Patrick
