Please add the option to each and every diagram for automated line hops to make it clear that the lines are not joining. There is the need for a consistent approach to line hops that depends on the direction of intersection, which gives rise to a number of possible options. Moreover, the style of the line hop should be consistent with the style of the lines; rectilinear (straight) lines should use straight line hops (i.e. at 45deg to direction of the line), whereas curvy lines (i.e. splines) should use arcs for line hops.
