The number of steps and clicks to edit an item, open the attachment, edit the attachment, save the attachment locally, replace (or add) the attachment to the item, and re-save the item is too many.
At the very least, I should be able to right-click on the attachment, select 'edit', and the Integrity client should open the attachment in the (current functionality) temporary file location, remember that location, let me edit and save the attachment, and then 're-upload' the saved copy in the 'background' while I work.
Perhaps it could watch that temporary file and upload it whenever there are changes. And then when I am done editing, I would click 'apply' as normal on the item to commit the changes (including the attachment upload).
