When you add projects to the project filter, then by default the filter result will show all items/documents in all of those projects (Figure 1). If you then select one project in the project filter (Figure 2), the filter applies to that project only. It is however no longer possible to deselect the project to come to the initial situation again as in Figure 1. If the user wants to see the content of all projects, he/she has to select all projects in the project filter as shown in Figure 3. The behavior is not consistent and is confusing to new users. It is one of those little things that altogether lead to poor user experience.
So, the proposal is to allow unselect to go back to situation 1 from situation 2.
Alternatively, you could have a selection of at least one project by default and not allowing situation 1. Although we use situation 1 quite regularly, so that wouldn't be our preferred option.
