offer recently used items in "add relationship" dialog as default

Currently if you want to add a relationship, you either have to enter the Id directly or select the Item from a query or "finder".

A typical use case in our company is that the item to be linked is one of the 10 most recently viewed items.

So a "fake query" that simply lists the 10 most recently opened Items should by available (as default) in the add relationship dialog to better support our users.

                                   Is it correct to assume that the feature you are requesting is based on the specific users look-up of recent items / recently viewed.

Clarification - User has added Item X and Viewed Y, is the expectation to have both these items show up in the add relationship UI or is the expectation only around Viewed Y?

yes the feature I was originally thinking about is current user specific. 

Clarification

- User has added Item X and Viewed Y. The expectation is to have both these items show up in the add relationship UI when editing Item Z (or X or Y).

- In particular there must not be any restriction on how X or Y were "accessed" (direct ID entry, a click in query result, GUI-Link, a click in a Chart, CLI call ....).

The "list" should contain all items "visited" by the user, no matter whether that was an edit, create or view operation involved ( like a browser history).

Nevertheless IMHO it would also be helpful to have an additional "popular items" list as well; that list would not be limited to items touched by the current user.

Windchill RV& 13.1 would be incorporating this in the Refreshed Web UI. There is no plan to extend this behavior to other interfaces.

The ID & Query selector are now a combined experience that allows the user to copy & paste or manually add comma-separated IDs. In addition, the user can target multiple queries and add all required items w/o leaving the UI. Here the Recent Viewed and Quick Query are additional options for the user to find and add items from.
