Add Additional Attributes to the "New Multiple Documents" Window Without Customization

Hello PTC Community,

I am working on a project in Windchill and need to enhance the functionality of the "New Multiple Documents" window.

Scenario:

  1. Open Windchill and navigate to a product.
  2. In a Windows Explorer window, select files you wish to import into Windchill.
  3. Drag and drop the files into the Windchill interface.
  4. The "New Multiple Documents" window appears.

Problem:
The current window does not display all the attributes I need to assign during the import process. I would like to include additional attributes in this screen to ensure all necessary metadata is properly captured.

Requirement:
I am looking for a way to achieve this without using any customization. Are there any configuration settings or OOTB (Out-Of-The-Box) capabilities that can help me add these attributes?

Any guidance, documentation references, or best practices would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your support!

Best regards,

Not sure you need to spend time on this. Just reverse your steps. Instead of dragging and dropping files first, use the New Multiple Documents action. Then select your multiple documents and drop them on the wizard. It will create a row for each document. The bonus is that UI has a configurable table where you can have it show all the attributes that you want to fill out.

Hi @avillanueva ,

Thank you for the reply you provided. However, I have one additional issue I'd like to clarify.

I'm working with document imports in Windchill, and here's my specific situation: When I use the "Edit Multiple Documents" window, I can see and use my customized view with all the additional attributes I need.

However, when I drag and drop files to create "New Multiple Documents", I can't access this same custom view - it only shows the default view.

To be more specific:

- I've successfully created and saved my custom view

- It works perfectly in "Edit Multiple Documents"

- But when I drag & drop files for import, the "New Multiple Documents" window doesn't show my custom view as an option I'm looking for a way to set my custom view as the default for the "New Multiple Documents" window during drag & drop operations.

Is there a way to achieve this through configuration settings?

Thanks a lot for your help!
