Does anybody know how to prevent users from editing a document number but still allow them to edit the name?
Number is auto generated and immutable in OIR, but this has no effect when later renaming.
Can't use ACL as name and number are both grouped under "edit identity"
Already tried the following in type manager with no effect

Excellent thanks!
I can't believe how many years I have assumed name and number were both identity!

Are you sure this does what you want? If the user has modify permissions so they can change the name (but not number), won't they also be able to edit the document itself (which you said wasn't allowed)?
That's ok. You also need modify content for that. Once approved everything is locked down.
Thanks Mike for the tips !
