Annoying server is currently unavailable message - work Offline

Hello all,

We are on WC 10.1 M30 using Creo 2 M30 and we have a lot of users facing this trouble.

"The server is currently unavailable. Do you want to switch Offline ?". But the server is up and running

Not all, not at the same time. Some having no trouble. Very annoying. It's just irritating to have to clear cache, knowing this will come back soon.

Please give your thoughts about that. Are you facing the same trouble ? Have you moved to a code level giving more stability ?

NB: Forgot to mention we are on IE 8

Thanks in advance for your support.

This should definitely not be happening with any regularity.

If the connection to the server is severed this can happen. If you are remote users, some apache settings can sometimes be updated to allow for longer timeouts and that might help reduce or remove this.

Steve,

We see this also with 10.1 M040 when we did not at 9.1 M070.

Do you know what parameters in Apache need tweaking?

Gary

That would be the timeout/keepalive one.

Jason

Gary,
We also saw the same issue, especially in our over seas offices.
Edit the <windchill>\Apache\conf\httpd.conf file and add KeepAliveTimeout 60 (or some other value) to the end of it, save the file and re-start the system.

We have been fighting this issue for over a year now. The Apache timeout made no difference (for us). Here are the many different things we've attempted so far:

1.) Set Apache timeout to 60 seconds. See

3.) Set the config.pro option "windows_browser_type" to "ie_in_sep_process".

4.) Set the config.pro option "resolve-comp_w_sep_process" to "no". See
