Attach Documents in Workflow process

Hey Gurus',

I have a requirement, where the Reviewer / Approver needs to attach some form of document to the workflow task which is Review / Approve.
How do I achieve this?

Thanks & Regards

There is a link (Task Content) in the task itself to do that (in the link group at the bottom-left). But all the documents uploaded this way will be attached to the Workflow Process object, instead of being attatched to the object running the workflow. So, take care with this if you are using vaults, because the workflow process' attachments could be stored in blobs instead of vaults.

Thanx Iker,
So what is the way to attach this to the object running the workflow?
Or alternatively, is there a way to store it in the vault instead of the BLOB?

Thanks & Regards

If you upload it to the workflow through the Task Completion UI/workitem, I
believe the workflow has its own notebook, a content holder. You'll have to
establish a way to get to the content from there, download it to a temp
directory and then get to the PBO of the workflow (which if it too is a
contentholder), and reupload the the content attaching it to the PBO. After
completion you can go back and remove it programmatically from the workflow
notebook/content holder. I have done this before and can give pointers -
just cant share any code.

Clearly not an elegant solution, but there is an ongoing need.

We would also very much would like PTC to address this.

A few specific use cases are:
- During a promotion request approval routing, would like users to be able to upload a file. Can't attach to a Promotion Request object, and can't attach to any objects being promoted without iterating them, making them stale for promotion.

- During a ProjectLink document routing, (pretty much same as above).

Using a discussion forum posting is another way to attach a file and we use that at times. You can in fact use Discuss for both cases above. The problem is that there is no visible flag or indication that a Discussion Posting exists. Users have to navigate to there to see. A flag of some type (different icon possibly would be best) may be the best.

You can add a column to your Folder Table Display for Discussed. This
will show an icon for discussed items. There is also an OOTB display
called Discussed.
