Hi,
Kindly guide whether it is possible to Autogenerate PDF from windchill drawing after each promotion request of a part number .PDF has to be stored to a server (Not in Windchill) where production can retrieve it. we are using windchill 2.0 windchill ,windchill projectlink 11.2.1.0. Thanks
We have a tool from Fishbowl Solutions that does this for us. You can talk to @rpassolt for more info.
Thanks,
Andy
Thank you Andy! @gkarthikyn Fishbowl has a few approaches that are popular with a number of customers. Feel free to reach out if you would like more information. Best, Rick
Yes it is possible. If drawing is part of your promotion request you can publish the same. Else we need to send it separately.
Whether Windchill has capability to do on it's own
Integrate with CAD Worker. Which cad application you are using. Creo , Solidworks , Catia ?
We use CREO, But i would like to do the PDF generation through Windchill alone. without integrating any other external tool. suggest?
Hello,
Actually it has to have integration with CAD tools , either by CAD Worker or through customization.
Regards
Ajit
Ya, i am wondering is there a solution without having external tool.
As far as i can tell you will have to have a customization to get that PDF out of Windchill to an external location.
Windchill will publish the Creo drawing as a PDF if you configure Windchill accordingly. This PDF is kept within Windchill. You need some kind of a custom APP to push the PDF outside of Windchill. You need to be careful that you are pushing the correct PDF... it is possible to write something that might accidently push an out of date PDF. This is where experience pays off.
Hi,
how about Afterloader method Option 2 and alternative 2,
https://www.ptc.com/en/support/article/CS216668
"Optionally download a copy of the EPM Document's attachments created at step 1 to a designated folder on a local or network hard disk on Windchill server"
Yes, you just need to write code and insure there are rules so it doesn't download out of date content and that it has proper error handling if anything fails. Or you can purchase such a solution from a PTC Partner that is already developed and supported.
