Backup/Restore solutions/schedules

Hey,
I wanted to pose this to the experts hoping to get a couple of options:
How are you getting your backups of Windchill and associated software/vaults:
What software? Snap/Clones from SAN? Are you putting Oracle into readonly? How do you sync Windchill/PDMLINK, Oracle, Vaults, IndexServers? Are you backing up the OS?

Just anything you can think that we may use.

Thanks in advance
Archie

Use two batch files. One batch file to stop Windchill completely (Apache, Tomcat, MethodServer, Cognos, FAST), possibly cycle the database services as well. Dump out the Oracle/SQL and Directory Service databases to a common directory. Also have the script copy across the WTCustom folder, site.xconf and any other important info to this common directory. Once all of this is done, have your backup program (Backupexc) take a backup of the common backup folder as well as all of the vaults. If you have the time, some people even take a full backup of the Entire Install folder structure (its good to have one of these around, even if it's a bit old).

Once the backup is complete, bring Windchill back online. Using a cold backup like this is highly recommended as it ensures the three main components (database, LDAP and Vault ) are all in sync and can be recovered from in case of a disaster scenario.

1- Turn off windchill

2- Dump out database

3- Copy key files/folders and customizations

4- Backup all backed up data (the vaults can be incremental during the week to save time with a full backup done during the weekend )

5- Bring Windchill Back online
