Currently, we are planning to build the Service Bill Of Material in Windchill 11.1 M20. So, would like to hear out from the different specialist in the forum about the best practice to be followed when building S-BoM.

This is very interesting to us as well. Currently we only have the Manufacturing View available, but have been wondering if we can add a Service View and use it as it seems you are planning.
I was thinking that we could only have one alternate view, but it seems you are talking about having two, Manufacturing and Service. Is that the case?
Yes. We are planning to have both Manufacturing View & Service View for building S-BoM. Reason being, in our ERP system, components/items/BoM structures are Revision controlled & is View independent.
Out of curiosity would like to know if you guys are thinking of using both the Manufacturing & Service Views for creating the Service BoM...?
Also, would be much happy to discuss the pros & cons of having picked the above-discussed approach.

I think we are going to use the m-BoM in some Products under our Organization, and s-Bom in other Products. The interesting thing is, I wonder if that can be done by Product inside one Organization?

The View Management is maybe not the best way to incorporate S-BOM
Views are good to elaborate the lifecycle of your product.
Your Product Engineering Process could start like this
Create product structure, numbers for external engineering company's, high level product spec, etc.
As usual, but your engineering department don't need to focus to build their CAD models like they will be manufactured
Split the Design view in the way you need it for your manufacturing team, put parts together like your assembly team need them, etc.
Maybe you have different plants around the world, and they don't have the same parts.
in your Japan plant you use Toshiba parts, but in Germany you like to use Siemens parts.
But for the usage of Siemens parts, you need to change other parts too. So end up with a whole new BOM for your manufacturing process.
But none if the views helps with service.
Why? because none of this can resolve problems like the following.
Your service personal changes part 4711 in just one product of only one customer. You cant change all BOM because of this.
Next example, you have 4 parts in your product in version B.4, now your service personal changed 1 of those with Version C.5 because the product has evolved. Try to do that with BOM Views. it don't works.
There are a couple of more examples why BOM view don't work here. (in my eyes at least)
Check "Part Instances" out for your purposes. probably the better solution for your S-BOM.
