Has anyone successfully used Bulk Items with non SI (Imperial) Units in an AutoAssociated (Owner) WTPart Structure? All I've found on the subject in the Knowledge Base is TPI 132983 (circa WC 😎 that resolves by stating that display (and it's actual values not just display values) of Bulk Items in SI units only is working to specification.
How do others handle Bulk Items and WTPart Structures - SI Units only?
Does anyone know where this is made known to Customers in the Documentation?
This really does cause issues for us as the downstream system can not handle Units of Measure other than what is set up in the Item Master and sometimes things come in Imperial quantities. Further, Windchill does not convert the quantity when it decides to switch units so you end up with 4 inches becoming 4 meters.
Any help will be greatly appreciated
hello
If you're in Windchill 10, thinks you can do like that:
-update the ResourceBundle QuantityUnit to add your Imperial unit in the list of Units available in WTpart BOM link
-Do not create Bulk Items as CADDocument with owner link
-create directly your bulk item as a WTpart in the BOM with the desired quantity and Unit and mark it "not for built" in the Product Structure Explorer (the owner association and the Build from CAD will not remove this bulk part)
Do not remember the Build process in 8.0 ...
Don't think you can do the same ....cause the "not for built" feature does not exists, so the Build process systematically remove the bulk WTPart (thats why the TPI ....)

Thanks! I'll try it, but I think we do want it Built, but without the change in Untis.
Users have come to rely on the compare to Part Structure and Build functionalities to ensure that what's in the CAD model is what is on the Drawing BoM (by Repeat Regions) is what is in the Enterprise BoM (WTPart Structure) is the basis for downstream Procurement and Manufacturing.
This could work if the rest of the assembly model can build, but only the Bulk Items need to be added manually and do not get removed on subsequent Builds.
