Change in hostname for VMware-Windchill server

Hi Fellow Windchillers,

Am trying to host a Windchill-9.1 M060 server on a VMWare machine (Windows Server 2008 R2 datacenter)

The installation was successful with the default IP address which was provided in the PSI installation window (instead of the fully-qualified host name which is the most recommended method)

Was able to access Windchill on the VMWare and in order to access Windchill from outside of the VMWare tried changing the following VMWare player settings to "Bridged" using: VMWare player>manage>Virtual machine settings>NAT>Bridged (default is NAT) After this the IP address of the VMWare host changes which is as expected.

Issue: Please let me know how I can update the IP address in the Windchill server. Is it possible by updating properties in xconfmanager or is rehosting the only way out.

Thanks,
Amol

This is called an inplace rehost. To be honest, if it were me I would simply reinstall.

You can try to folow PTC rehost guide before re-installing everything

Prior 9.1:http://www.ptc.com/view?im_dbkey=38433

For 9.1:http://www.ptc.com/view?im_dbkey=105438

For 10.x:http://www.ptc.com/view?im_dbkey=124969

A good practice is to use aliases for host names during installation ; just some xconfmanager commands to make it work outside VM after install
