Converting Hard Model to Soft type

I am using Windchill PDMLink Release 11.0 and Datecode with CPS M030-CPS17

We want to convert Hard Model to Soft type in Windchill. We came across ModeledToSoftType tool. Need more understanding on the same. And also another utility to change type from one to another. Can we use it to convert Hard to Soft type?
