Copying Assembly on Windchill

Hello All,

I wanna ask a help about to create a Assembly copy on Windchill.

I have an assembly previously created and I need to create another Assy file that the diference between this two assemblies is that in the copied one, I will need to remove one component.

So when I do that the message alert a conflict in Windchil:

To remove a child (905086.prt), parent (23085.asm) should also be removed.

Could you please share with me an ideal procedure to do this kind of copy?

In attached a file showing the message on Windchill.

Thank you in advanced.

Regards

Fabio Martins

Hi Fabio,

When you copy the assembly, unselect the component that you want to delete in the copied assembly. The copied assembly will first contain the original (uncopied) component.

Open the assembly in Creo and remove the component, save and checkin the assembly. In this way you will not first create something you don't need.

Hello Patrick,

thank you for your attention.

Are you suggesting me that I need to exclude that component during the "save as" command on Windchill?

I dont know If I understood all the steps..

Thank you again.

Fabio

Sounds like using the SaveAs feature of windchill is a good idea. Attached is a documnet I created for my users to do just that. Hopefully this helps.

Thank you very mutch Patrick and James!

The procedure was very helpful too!

Have a good day!
