Version: Windchill 13.0
Use Case: Check-in is causing Creo to crash.
Description:
We have just upgraded to Windchill 13.0.2.0 and Creo 10.4.0. When doing a Custom Check-In, Creo is crashing with a fatal error and all work is lost. We have asked the user to do a Save before doing the Check-In and that seems to help, but it is adding an extra step. Has anyone else seen this issue with this combination of Creo and Windchill? At my last job we had Windchill 13.0.2.3 with both Creo 9.0.9.0 and Creo 11.0.3.0 and did not encounter any issues.
Hey @BenLoosli, I am not using that version of Creo but I am doing my upgrade this weekend. Can you post any crash logs or other information on the exit? Do you have a PTC ticket open on this? I have instructed users that we will be having them recreate their local workspace cache area so it is not corrupted with the previous version meta data. Is it random, 100% of the time or was it with users still using their pre-upgrade cache?
As far as I know, we do reuse the local workspaces, but the person doing the upgrades said they had a fix so workspaces did not need to be deleted. We do use ModelCheck. That CS article was for 12.1, so maybe they fixed it in 13.0.2.
At my last job, I always had the users delete their workspaces before an upgrade and we used ModelCheck there, too.
what was the fix so workspace do not need to be deleted?
Just a tip in case it's helpful:
For upgrades, we rename the users' cache folder. This forces the user to start with a fresh cache, but we can easily recover data when inevitably they ignore instructions to check in all work 🙃
