Hi
on 9th July 2014, Microsoft released a critical update for IE10. After this got applied, our users complained that PDMLink did not work correctly.
Comment from one of our users
When clicking on the information icon for anything, document, Promotion Request etc and window pops up saying "Windows Internet Explorer has stopped working & needs to restart".
Once page comes back (with the page I was after loaded) a message on the bottom of the page saying that something on the webpage is causing the webpage to shut down (or words to that effect).
Has someone else experienced this ? What should we expect. A new patch from Microsoft or PTC ?
Best regards
Chris

What is the patch number?
Having the same experience... Information Icon as well as Hyperlinks. Running IE 9.
Chris,
Please open a tech support case for this so that we can look into whether there is a conflict with our software and the critical patch. Please provide the patch info and client system configuration (browser version, OS version, etc.) in the case.
Hello
KB2962872 and we know it affected mshtml.dll (Windows 7 64bits, IE10, Java 7)
I was told this patch was released for IE6 to IE11 and Keir already mentioned he got that problem
As we work with a VAR, I expect them to open a technical support case.
Thanks, let's hope Microsoft will quickly release a corrective patch
We have experienced the same....the fix for us, after slow response from PTC, was to uninstall the updates and block them from future installs. This is a temp fix and I hope PTC can address quickly.
Hi
To me it''s clear. Microsoft messed it up, it has affected thousands of websites and millions of users, Even the parent company of FlexNet reported issues. Microsoft should really provide a corrective patch.
Add config option browser_limit_to_ie9_mode yes to see if it works on your issue.
Was just told by TSE to contact Microsoft, not even sure how to do that.
TSE response below...now we wait.
This is known issue and already reported to R&D with SPR 2227222 . PTC is working with Microsoft on this issue.
Please refer to below case solution for further information.

The SPR is set to top priority so we should hopefully have some further information soon.
Hello
That is great news. I would personally prefer a Microsoft update as it is easier to apply but whatever comes first will be welcome.
The SPR only mention 10.2 so will it not be fixed on 10.1 ?

Thanks
FYI: PTC has this issue escalated with Microsoft - Several high profile PTC customers were impacted. The SPR https://www.ptc.com/appserver/cs/view/spr.jsp?n=2227222 will address Windchill 10.x (i.e. all 10.x versions).
Please see the following links for current updates regarding Windchill:
So what is the latest status on this? It has been a month since this was reported and logged.
PTC has closed the SPR saying "No Plans to Fix".
Microsoft has removed the know Issue of PTC crashing and has made it more generic saying "Hosted Browser Applications may be unstable and crash after installing this wonderful security update", but still no resolution.
Fortunately we run Microsoft updates on a test group before rolling it out to the entire company so it only affects those of us in that test group.
New IE update released on 8/12/14 has fixed the issue for us so far, still in testing before we release it to the masses. Here is a link to the new update;http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2976627
Has anyone experienced this issue again recently?
We didn't experience it back in July but our users have been complaining of this exact issue but only in the last week or so.
Any thoughts or advice would be a great help
Many Thanks
