Customizing the publish job

We would like to customize the publish job to do some additional processing prior to generating the representation. For example, rename a layer in the ProE drawing prior to generating the PDF. The Windchill Customizer's Guide shows how to customize the initiation of and the inputs to the publish job, but doesn't seem to cover customizing the publish job itself. Does anyone have any experience with this?

I was able to implement this by registering a jlink application to the ProE job used by the CAD worker. The jlink application listens for an OnAfterModelRetrieveAll model actionin order tomake the modifications to the drawing prior to generating the PDF.
